Extraordinary landscapes to admire. Cliffs overlooking a crystal clear sea, the discovery of uncontaminated nature and the Sardinian agro-pastoral culture.
Live a trekking experience in Monte Irveri to forget the hectic working days, the smog, the chaos of the city and dive into an incomparable paradise.

From a first stop on Osalla beach in the Orosei area, a beach nestled between the basalts and crystalline waters of the spectacular Gulf of Orosei, together with the expert guides of Orosei AdvenTours you can walk along a short coastal path of black lava rocks that leads to the beach of Carteddu. You will be able to admire the famous Cartoe beach with very fine sand, with a clear color and emerald green water.

The thick Mediterranean scrub and the centuries-old oaks on the hills make Cala Cartoe a true corner of unspoiled paradise that is worth visiting at least once in your life.

The route continues going up the side of the Monte Irveri massif which is majestic with its 600 meters of height overlooking the sea.

Here begins a trekking adventure of a certain difficulty but once you reach an altitude of 350 meters, in the locality of Sa Tintura, you will stop at the old sheepfold called Su Cuile de Sa Tintura. The sheepfold is a masterpiece of shepherds’ poor architecture, probably born around the 1940s.

Sa Tintura, in addition to being an evocative glimpse of the agro-pastoral culture of Sardinia, offers a peculiar landscape because it is located in a clearing overlooking the sea: a view that embraces the entire Gulf of Orosei, from Capo di Monte Santu to Punta Nera.

The stop for refreshments but then we leave to return to the headquarters with a return route that winds through furrowed fields and centuries-old juniper trees. The excursion continues without more difficulty up to the Cartoe beach where you can rest again with a lunch break and a dip in one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia.

  • Osalla di Orosei beach and Cala Cartoe
  • Breathtaking views of the Gulf of Orosei
  • Stop at the Su Cuile de Sa Tintura sheepfold
  • Dive into the beach at Cala Cartoe

A curiosity

As mentioned above, the cuiles of Supramonte and central Sardinia were the ancient houses of Sardinian shepherds. They looked after their livestock there and took care of all the activities related to it, such as the production of typical Sardinian cheese.
